Summer Reading Program 2026

We are excited to be launching our 2026 summer reading program schedule, which will kick off on June 11th! The theme this year is Unearth a Story. What stories will you dig up this summer? We have events planned for kids, teens, and adults!

2026 Children's Program Schedule
June 11th
  • 12:00 – Program signups begin (all day)
  • 1:00 – Meet some amazing reptiles right here at the library, courtesy of Wildlife Images!
June 18th
  • 1:00 – Get ready to Bee Amazed with the Museum of Natural and Cultural History, and learn all about our favorite pollinators!
June 25th
  • 1:00 – Create your own colorful tie-dye creations with Victoria Carnate! (This is both a children's and teens' event)
July 2nd
  • 1:00 – Learn all about Oregon rocks with the South Douglas Gem and Mineral Club!
July 9th
  • 1:00 – Explore local tribal history with Jesse Jackson, and get to know the Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians!
July 16th
  • 1:00 – Learn all about mammoths with Donna Nerell through the Douglas County Museum!
July 23rd
  • 1:00 – Make your own fossils at the library!
July 30th
  • 1:00 – Rock painting! Reading awards! Don't miss it!

2026 Teens' Program Schedule
June 11th
  • 12:00 – Program signups begin (all day)
June 25th
  • 1:00 – Create your own colorful tie-dye creations with Victoria Carnate! (This is both a children's and teens' event)!
July 7th
  • 1:00 – Get creative with origami! What will you create?

2026 Adult Program Schedule
June 11th
  • 12:00 – Program signups begin (all day)
June 16th
  • 2:00 – Make sauerkraut with the Master Food Preservers, and take home your own jar to ferment at home! Pre-registration required.
June 30th
  • 2:00 – Learn about planting a more water-efficient garden with the Master Gardeners! Pre-registration required.
July 14th
  • 2:00 – Dale Greenley will give a talk on local history!

Times and dates are firm, but events may be subject to change
